Getting ready

As an important part of my preparation for France I got crêpes last weekend after SATs with my friends :) I can't wait to eat the real ones in St. Laurent with my new friends!

30 days left!

Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Elana Movshovich and I'm going to be a senior at Stuyvesant High School in New York City.  I love everything French and that is why I'm so ecstatic to spend a month in St. Laurent, France with Abbey Road this summer.  My main motivation for applying to the program was to achieve fluency in French, but there are so many other perks that go along with it! Because I'm taking the digital photography elective, I'll be able to more easily discover the spirit of St. Laurent and its people, and the experiential learning will finally take my French beyond the classroom.  One of my favorite aspects of the program is the emphasis on experiencing France as a French person and not as a tourist, as well as the exploration of various aspects of French culture and not just the language.  I have been studying French for 5 years and have been to Paris and Nice, but I know the homestay and immersion experience will be completely different and extremely rewarding.  I can't wait to meet my French family and the amazing people I'll be spending this life changing month with! After living in France for a month I know I'll come back to the states with an entirely new and unique perspective on things happening in the world and around me.

Keep up with me over the course of my stay (and be jealous) by checking my blog starting July 2nd; I'll be posting at least three times a week so stay turned for updates on life in St. Laurent, beautiful photos, and even some video messages!  30 days until the program starts, I can't wait!
